Thursday morning marked the start of UROtech22, a new three-day meeting organised by the EAU’s Uro-Technology, Urolithiasis and Robotic Urology sections (ESUT, EULIS and ERUS, respectively). The meeting was preceded by related hands-on training courses by the European School of Urology on the 25th of May.
The three chairmen of the participating Sections, Profs. Gözen, Seitz and Breda, joined by local organizer and former EULIS Chair Prof. Sarica welcomed the audience to Istanbul. The cooperation between the three large sections was also hailed by Prof. Rassweiler, chairman of the EAU Section Office: “What started as a farewell party for Prof. Sarica has become a major new live surgery event for the EAU. I thank the three chairmen for their collaboration in the preparations, as well as the Central Office.”
With the postponement of EAU22, UROtech22 is also the first major live surgery event for 2022, promising three days of procedures, both live and pre-recorded. The prospect of cutting-edge science as well as a chance to meet with colleagues again after quite a few years of virtual meetings was an attractive prospect for all participants. Over 630 participants are expected over the coming three days.
Day 1
Already on the first day, delegates can participate in a three-screen simultaneous live session in the main auditorium. Simultaneously there will be thematic sessions (including minimally-invasive treatment of BPH, SWL and endoscopic management of bladder tumours) and an abstract session with presentations of all of the latest research.
Hands-on training exams are also taking place for appropriate candidates.
